Valentine’s date ideas in Central Iowa
Looking for a Valentine’s date idea? Whether you decide to stay inside or go out on the town we have a few options for you this Valentine’s Weekend!
1. Alba
Spend your Valentine’s Day enjoying a prix fixe menu from Alba. The menu includes items such as French onion soup, romaine wedge, and cauliflower bisque for the first course; gnocchi, chicken breast, filet, and wild striped bass for the entrée; and molten chocolate lava cake, coconut rice pudding, and vanilla bean crème brule for dessert, in addition to food for the table. Reserve your table to make sure you get a spot! If you can’t wait until Valentine’s Day, the menu is available for al a carte ordering February 12 and 13.

2. Mulberry Street Tavern
Enjoy a special Valentine’s Day menu at Mulberry Street Tavern inside the chic Surety Hotel for $75.
First course includes butter lettuces, Chevre, fines herbes, garlic croutons, and verjus vinaigrette, followed by Parisian herb gnocchi, Perigordblack truffle, and parmesan cream for the second course. The third course features grilled duck breast, butternut squash, parsnips, and pomegranate duck jus. Vegetarian options are available upon request. A special dessert menu will be offered separately.
3. RoCa
Do you enjoy wine and finding out how it pairs with other foods?
Join RoCA on February 10 for their Belle Glos Wine Dinner. You’ll start with some appetizers and sparkling wine, followed by a four-course tasting menu created by chef Chef Andrew Havlovic paired with three single-vineyard Pinot Noirs.

4. The Hall
The Justice League of Food will be fixing a Valentine's Day Tomahawk Dinner for Two at The Hall on Sunday, February 13.
Dinner includes a 42 oz Tomahawk ribeye, fancy potatoes for two, seasonal vegetable, salad, dessert, and four glasses of red wine or four pints of craft beer or a combination.
Seating will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the main hall. Cost is $120 per couple.
Make it a date night when you visit Bottle and Bottega in Des Moines for their cosmic love painting event. Pairs will paint one side of a panel so you can them hang both side by side to make one painting or have two stand alone pieces. Cost is $42 per person.

6. Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden
Create the perfect Valentine’s Day bouquet at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. Their Bouquet Bar event is a drop-in program where you can create a petite bouquet while supplies last. Stop by 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. either day. Cost is $8 for members and $10 for non-members.

7. Valentine’s Dinner Train
Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad will be holding a valentine’s dinner train 🚂
Spend a memorable two hour journey with your sweetheart aboard one of our Valentine dinner trains. Select from your choice of five entrees: Grilled Sliced Beef Tenderloin, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Grilled Salmon, Pork Chop, Vegetarian Spaghetti.
