Updated property tax assessments 2021

Property tax assessments will be hitting your mailbox this week. Don't be surprised if you open your letter and the value has gone up!

With the shortage of inventory in the last few years, properties in Central Iowa have been selling around 12-14% higher than their assessed value. The assessor is finally catching up with home sale prices.

If you’re uncertain what homes have been selling for around you π™₯π™‘π™šπ™–π™¨π™š π™§π™šπ™–π™˜π™ 𝙀π™ͺ𝙩 𝙩𝙀 π™ͺ𝙨 - we will run comparable sales to see if your new assessment is anywhere close. You might even be able to sell your home for more than you thought it was worth!

If the comparable sales don’t add up, your next step is to file an appeal. The deadline to appeal is April 30th.

The good news... the new assessments won't kick in for property tax purposes for awhile.
