Ballard Football Schedule 2020
Football season is here!
The Ballard Bombers have been prepping to play their regular season this fall. They’ve been working hard and we’re looking forward to a successful season.
Unfortunately, the derecho storm destroyed our Richard Strouse Field. They are moving forward with games as planned but we will be playing their home games at host stadiums. See below for more details on where to see them play this fall:
Friday Sept 4th - at Gilbert stadium
Friday Sept 18th - at North Polk stadium
Friday Sept 25th - at TBA
Friday Oct 9th - at Gilbert stadium**NOTE - Homecoming will be moved to the winter season. Senior Night will be broken up into three different nights.
For continued updates please refer to the Ballard Activities calendar here: http://www.ballard.k12.ia.us/calendar/
Below you can also find details on how Ballard is handling social distancing at their sporting events this season.
We hope to see you at a game this fall!
50% Seating Capacity - Fall Season
The Raccoon River Conference in conjunction with the guidance provided by the Department of Education, Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA), and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU), will be limiting seating capacity to 50% for the fall sports season. We have developed a protocol for ticket sales to accommodate this guideline.
Freshman/Varsity Football
*We will use an online ticketing service to purchase tickets. All tickets will be paid for online and when spectators come through the gate they will need to display their unique QR code showing they paid. The ticket taker will scan the QR code for access. There will be no tickets sold at the gate and only spectators with a prepaid ticket will be allowed to enter.
*Football players, coaches, and cheerleaders will be given an allotment of tickets.
*High School students will have the next priority to obtain a ticket. One ticket per student.
○ Seniors – Monday of game week
○ Juniors – Tuesday of game week
○ Sophomores and Freshman – Wednesday of game week
* The general public will have access to any remaining tickets on Thursday of game week.
* A link will be sent to 9-12 students via infinite campus. A link for the general public will be communicated through the Ballard Activities Twitter, Ballard Activities Facebook, and the Ballard Activities Website.
Junior Varsity Football
*Admission gates will run as normal. First come, first served on game nights at the admission gate until the 50% capacity is met.
Middle School Football
*Admission gates will run as normal. First come, first served on game nights at the admission gate until the 50% capacity is met.
Activity Passes – Student Activity, Booster Club, Senior
With the 50% capacity rate and needing the ability to keep an accurate count of spectators, activity passes will not be used for the fall season. These include student activity passes, athletic booster club passes, and senior passes. Those who have purchased the student activity passes will be getting a refund from the district office. Please be patient with those as they have to process quite a few. Athletic booster club pass refunds should be directed to the athletic booster club.
We know that there are a lot of changes that people may be frustrated with. These are unintentional and we are trying to deal with the situations (COVID-19, derecho damage) the best we can. We ask for patient and understanding as we start the 2020-21 athletic seasons. It is a learning curve for all of us. The goal is to get through the fall seasons with all students given the ability to compete.
